On August 1, 2017, the leaders of the Indian and South Asian clubs from the different high schools in Irvine came together to formulate the South Asian Student Federation. In many South Asian communities, Samp (Gujarati for unity) is an ideal that each of the communities is values highly. We brought this same idea to the different clubs in order to make them more united. We have created the Assembly, leaders from a diverse group of backgrounds and clubs that not only bring their leadership skills to the table but also bring their unique cultures that make this club livelier than before. The South Asian Student Federation is committed to diversity, Samp, and the power of education; three qualities that have shaped the lives of many immigrant students from South Asia and other parts of the world.

It is my privilege to be your Chancellor this year. The Assembly has planned many exciting events for this coming year that we are eager for you all to experience. It is the goal of the Assembly and myself to make sure that we are true to our purpose of educating and spreading awareness of South Asian culture as we continue to try new endeavors and create platforms for self-expression and cultural Samp (unity).
